We decided to try them out just last Father;s Day. The waitress got us seated fast and recommended the mixture of appetizers. It was very good and waiting for us with our drinks when got back to our seats. They seamed a bit busy that day. They had a large variety of foods you pick from for them to cook. I got in the line backwards but the cooks showed me the correct place. It was neat to watch them cook our food. The bowls are small so I would say get one for the noodles and one for the other items you want cooked. I liked the lemon I put on my food choices. It is all you can eat so you can always go back again if you are still hungry. We all did once. We got stuffed! Great food for the price. I will definitely go there again next time I am in downtown Ft. Collins Colorado.

I was thoroughly dissatisfied with my experience at Hu hot this past Friday night with my boyfriend. Especially considering my first experience (at the Thornton location) was incredible. For a Friday night- or any night- they were extremely slow. And I can understand why. To begin, the decor just looks dingy and is unappealing. When we sat down and were given our menus, the drink menu was sticky and dirty. When we got up to go make our bowls, the meat bar was all disheveled and sloppy. Some bins didn't have their own tongs so obviously there's some cross contamination. The sauce bar was worse. It looked like someone had a sauce-fight all over it. And you could tell the sauce bar hadn't been wiped down for hours, as the drippage was dry and sticky. There were many layers of dried sauce. Quite disgusting. In the chefs grill area, there was grease and scraped off food ALL over the floor. I saw a cook grab a "new" spatula to start a new meal and it had left over food chunks on it. But that's not even the worst part! I made a total of 3 bowls and EVERY time I got my food back, my noodles were extremely over cooked. They were rubbery and sometimes even crunchy. At the end, I told our waitress and she said, "okay well would you like to talk to my manager about it?" Why should I have to inform someone twice? We ended up getting 20% off our bill but I was still disappointed with my experience.

the way this place is set up is you grab a small bowl and fill it up with raw meats, vegetables, noodles, sauces, etc. and then line up to give it to the cook and watch and wait as it is being cooked. But during a dinner crowd the tables that have the ingredients for your meal can get very messy and unorganized. There was noodles mixed in with the seafood, vegetables mixed in with the meats, the sauces were in small kettles with a ladle and the ones in the back always dripped or spilled into the ones in the front. the floor was dirty and sticky with food and spilled sauces, it was a cross contamination health inspectors nightmare, plus where I was sitting they had the air condition on full blast which made for a very uncomfortable dining experience and made your food cold very fast. The waiter we had was either new or really didn't care about his job since we had to tell him on 3 separate occasions that we wanted separate checks, plus he rather clumsily spilled ice all over the table and in my food as he was trying to refill my water glass. While i was looking up their locations they had prices listed on their online menu, but when I received the check the prices were much higher. I don't believe I will be returning to this place anytime soon.

A cool and funky place. Didn't expect it too be the way it was. Food was very good. You can follow the pre made recipes or just wing it and come up with your own. It's all you can eat so definitely go hungry. Will definitely come back here the next time I'm in Fort Collins.

This location is 100 times better than the express version on Harmony. Love the opportunity to make your meal however you like and go back more than once.

I absolutely love going to this place when I am in Old Town, or when I am feeling especially hungry. The buffet prices are great for the all you can eat, and I have never left completely unsatisfied as far as food goes. Even when it is extremely busy, we are always seated as quickly as possible. The reason I didn't give 5 stars, is because my only complaint is the lack of service I have experienced almost every time I have gone. Now, before you jump to conclusions, keep in mind it is some what non-traditional wait service being set up as a buffet. BUT, i've almost always had to wait 5+ minutes to be initially greeted. As a waitress myself, this is a big no no in the service industry. In addition to, there have been times i've had to flag someone down for silverware, drink refills, my check, etc. Again though, I understand when I see a server who looks overwhelmed or is busy. It's not a problem for me other than when I have to flag someone down 2-3 times that is a little bothersome. They visit your table 3-4 times during the entire visit (greet, drinks, salad/rice drop off & order, check). When I have gone, during non-busy hours, I have no complaints as the servers aren't busy and are very attentive. OTHER than that, this place is great! The company itself is awesome, and all the staff is very friendly.

Staff was nice, friendly and fast. There is a little bit for everyone. Like others said, get a smaller bowl and make more trips. This allows you to try many different sauce combos. If you have an allergy, let them know and they will clean your cook area better and use special spatulas that do not get mixed with the rest of the food. Don't be afraid to tip the cooks, they are fast and friendly

I've been to other Mongolian Grill places, and this is by far the best!!! From the decor (though they do need to replace some of their ceiling tiles that look pretty beat up), to the layout, this place is just awesome. The food is top notch, and it is fun to watch them work the big round stone grill as they cook up your food! There is different recipes with the sauces you can do for your food, which if it is your first time I suggest you try. If you are more daring, or like me just crazy, then just load a bunch of different sauces in your bowls and make it different every time! I can't say enough about how great this place's food is! The service is great too, though their job really isn't that hard since people practically make their own food. They have a number of great local beers on tap which is always a plus! If you want something different, this is where you need to go! You will be hooked!!!

Great food. Great service every time. My picky eater loves it because she picks all her ingredients! Don't forget to sign up for birthday and kids specials!!

  • Regina G.

It was okay. Nothing to rant about. Reminded me of a mediocre version of a similar Mongolian grill- Fire & Ice, from back east (MA & RI). It was cheap and good for kids (under 4 eat free). The biggest issue I had were the fruit flies all around the food at the buffet area AND around my cooked food at the table. Yuck.

We enjoy eating here from time to time. Since you pick what you want as far as noodles, veggies, meats and sauces everything is customized to what you like which makes it easy for every member of the family to get what they want! The service is always friendly and they do a pretty good job keeping the bins of veggies, meats, noodles and sauces restocked as things get used up. Its usually pretty busy so you usually have to wait in line a bit to get your food cooked but not too long! If you haven't tried this place, check it out! :-)

EEEE I love it here! It's so much fun to experience. I brought my parents here with my husband and we had just a great great meal together. My mother is super picky and when she takes to a place like this you know it's good. The golden curry sauce was fantastic btw. I want a bottle of it to take home haha. We haven't been back in a year, but my parents knew how much we liked it there so much that they sent us a gift card to HuHot for our anniversary! I'm so happy we get to go again!

  • Mila G.

I've been here a few times with friends, and a few times on dates. It's great for both. Grab a bowl, put in any veggies, pasta, spices, sauces, etc you want, and watch the cooks heat it up on this giant griddle. Everything mixes together and you end up with your own concoction. Prices are pretty decent, too. If your meal isn't good, try again, and add more spice or something to it! Staff is great, drinks are great, and I wish there was a place like this closer to me!

Came in today. The hostess walked us to the back of the resturant and we passed about 6 booths. I asked her if we could snag a booth politely. She snarled at me and acted like a child and walked us back to the front. Whatever. Attitude not needed. She went and cleaned a table for us ( three I saw were clean!!!!) And took about ten minutes to do so. I was so irritated. I let our server know and he wasn't very caring. I wasn't even trying to be difficult but when we're coming to spend nearly 40$ for lunch in Old Town where we have so many options to eat ... I except great customer service. The selection today was under par to say the least. The veggies were almost empty as well as the only sauce I like. I tried to scoop the last in and got a disgusting amount of garlic. I was then told our appetizer wasn't coming out because they had none that prep didn't prep today. Really!??!!? You didn't prep 10$ appitizers? Our server barley apologized but made sure to let us know they had a 10,000 day on Saturday (like I care. Woopty do.) Anyways.... it was a massacre trying to get around people while loading our bars to keep having to switch sides and trying not to upset people. I won't be back but, instead of our server making sure that we had an okay time after out issues he simply told us hope we get to see you again. Haha.

Delicious!!! The cooks are so friendly and awesome at their jobs! We look forward to eating here not only for the awesome food but for the fun interactions with the cooks. The wait staff is good as well!!!

Food tasted good, but the server was slow. Also, it's not a place for vegetarian, as they use the same spatulas to cook all the food. It was fun though.

This place has been really good over the past few years. Today, however; was different. The restaurant was filthy. The sauce bar was horrible and looked as if hadn't been cleaned all day. This was a not so good experience, I just hope this doesn't continue.

Second time there. Excellent both times. I enjoy selecting ingredients and creating my own dish. The four of us had great meals at a reasonable price. I will be back!

Observations: I should have known...if I'm the only Asian guy in an Asian restaurant, it's probably bad news...even in Ft Collins. I guess you can really only blame the bla taste on your self because you have to load it your self . High percentage of unfit Colorado people in there...should be aware of "all you can eat" places anyway!. Decent deal, but I shall stay away. Upside, staff is friendly. Not bad...just not for me.

Huhot was ok. Food was decent, but I have been to other similar places with more variety and better quality food and vegetables. Don't expect to be wow'ed.

You know how everyone has at least one point of their life that they remember as the time they had the worst food poisoning in their life? This, this, place gave me the worst food poisoning I've even had in my life, it was a little while ago now but I remember the food tasted kind of peculiar but stupidly kept eating. The sauce area was disgusting, looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. I was so so sick for three days solid. The friends I ate with all complained the next couple days of stomach cramps and feeling nauseated after their meals as well. Perhaps it was an anomaly, maybe that particular cook didn't cook the food long enough, but to this day I will never ever return. That kind of stomach illness in me and my friends does not happen in the absence of poor restaurant upkeep. Even in the absence of the food poisoning, I would be hesitant to return because the prices are extraordinarily high.

I had never been to a Mongolian BBQ restaurant before, but now that I've experienced Huhot I'm sure I'll be back before too long. Come hungry, obviously. Since it's all-you-can-eat I say it's a good idea to get your money's worth. Speaking of money, we came for lunch which was about $10 per person. I've heard dinner is more expensive, but that they also have more options. Honestly, I thought what was offered for lunch was plenty. If you're vegetarian/vegan or have any kind of food allergies, this may not be the place for you. Obviously you can create a bowl with no meat/peanuts/etc, but all the food is thrown onto the same cooking surface so it's likely your food will come in contact with this stuff. Their thai black peanut sauce is amazing! I love it with rice noodles and sesame seeds sprinkled on top. I tried their yellow curry sauce which was good too, and spicier than I thought it would be! The chefs are great, be sure to tip them! They put on a show and are very friendly. It's fun just to watch them do their job. I've gotta say, I came here without eating breakfast and had enough food to keep me satisfied for the rest of the day. If I wasn't certain frequent trips to Huhot would be a burden on my wallet and my waistline, you bet I'd be here all the time.

A must-stop place when going through Ft. Collins. I always enjoy eating here. The drink service is always on top of filling up my water/soda. I love to be able to pick and choose how much of what I want. I can make my meal as spicy or bland as I want. My suggestions: -stay away from the imitation crab meat -devour as much rice noodles as possible -add black beans to anything -the pork is surprisingly good -when it says 5 FLAME spicy, it is -add lemon juice to everything to give it some zip -don't forget to add the crunchy chow mein noodles at the end -tip the cooks and they'll perform some cool tricks with their spatulas

We went on 3/9 around 3:40pm. We used to love this place but our last few visits have seen it go down hill. To start off we came in the door and the "hostess" kept talking to another employee. Then she says "I'll seat you" and acted like it was a big inconvenience and hated her job. She seats us and walks away. No words. Our waitress was nice enough and got our drinks while we went to the buffet. The meats were not so appealing. The veggies seemed ok but the sauce area was filthy. As I am in line getting my sauces an employee in red, who was getting food for himself starts making me feel rushed and even reaches for ladles in front of me. Then while waiting to get our food back the rude hostess starts sweeping around us. I get my food to the grill chef and he did fine. Didn't seem our food got cooked all the way but was plenty hot. The food was ok. My beer was served with a lemon slice (supposed to be and orange slice). The waitress never checked on us till we needed a bill. I am a GM in the food industry and I would have been embarrassed and mad had any employees treated customers this way. Sorry Hu Hot, won't be back for a LONG time.

This is our favorite restaurant! We love love love this place. We used to go about 2x per week but moved out of Fort Collins. We tried Westminster but it doesn't have the quality of service that Fort Collins has. We try to make it up there at least once a month now.

Do i just suck at Hu Hoting? I've been here multiple times because of a friend of ours loves to eat here and is from out of town, so whenever he comes to Fort Collins we usually head to hu hot. My biggest problem with here is probably my self, i can't seem to ever make anything good. The sauce station is so intimidating and every time i go i try something completely different only to have it taste pretty poopy because i can never get the sauces right. This upsets me because i have a culinary degree, so this should be second nature. So the Idea behind Hu Hot is pretty cool, its a buffet where you pick out the meat, noodles, and veggies, add sauce and then its cooked fresh on this crazy flat grill they have. The result... Good depending on what you put in it. The service has always been good here and one thing i really do like is the side salad you get when you do the buffet. Its a nice little asian salad that's really tasty the dressing they use on it is fantastic as well as the little bits of raw ramen they top it with. Over all, Hu Hot is theoretically good but the final product rests in your hands. Apparently i suck at Hu Hot but maybe you don't. It's worth checking out as its really the best way to do a buffet.

  • Adam E.

HuHot is really good and very well-priced for a Mongolian Grill restaurant. Go around lunch for the best prices. I like that you can bring more than one bowl up to the grill so that you don't have to cram everything into one bowl. Just make sure that you come with an appetite; you'll want to make the most out of your visit and try as many combos as possible.

  • Kevin L.

The food was good. I just feel for $12.99 you could go to an authentic Chinese restaurant, have better food and take it home with you unlike HuHot.

Lunch today at 2:30.First time here so not sure if it qualified as busy or not. After making your bowl it took maybe 10 minutes of wait til cooked that's what I know.4 stars for the selection of ingredients they had.Lunch so no shrimp, Disappointing . The major problems were cleanliness. You stick to the table you stick to the floor and the sauce Table bordered on Grotesque.Really it was disgusting.I mean people wipe a towel through there occasionally.Nothing but young kids working here and they just don't care ! This could be a great dining experience but their lack of job pride and cleanliness will keep it down to a dive to go pig out twice a year.As for the food poisoning review. I could see it easily. They move from order to order all on the grill.Turning raw chicken and with the same spatula and their next move is to scrape another person's cooked food on a plate. Not sanitary at all.Instant 25 demerits in Nevada, takes 30 to be closed down. New to Colorado and I'm beginning to wonder if there is even a board of health that does restaurant inspections in existence.???

The one big thing this place has going for it is there really is something for everyone. A big plate of good mixed veggies (i.e. not just frozen broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots) is not something you can get at every restaurant. So zucchini, onions, jalapenos, spinach, asparagus and generally the ability to have a big vegetable based restaurant meal is what earns this place two stars from me. (Well, that and they will happily do separate checks for a big group. Which isn't too hard with the fixed pricing, but appreciated nonetheless.) But it doesn't make up for the rest of the ick factors. I don't like waiting in restaurants in general (I was with a group or I would never willingly have stayed in a place where we were told there'd be a 40 minute wait) but especially when you're situated so you're awkwardly watching other diners. Ick. I can get on board with a good buffet, but walking past bins of raw meat is not appetizing. Nor are the spattered and spilled sauce buckets and the stained holder they sit in. Nor are the sneeze guards and all they imply. Ick! And last stop on the buffet, the grill. It's pretty neat that they cook the food in front of you. It's fun to see the flames shoot up occasionally, and they make an effort with the spatula theatrics. Not neat is watching the crusted, gooey remnants of the meal last cooked in one spot being scraped into the big hole in the middle. Honestly, watching that process made me feel like I might wretch. Ick, ick, ick. Further, while you can definitely put together a good veggie noodle bowl, this is not a good option for a strict vegetarian who might have an issue with cooking his own meal where raw meat was sizzling just minutes prior. The waitstaff are also not correctly educated on what soups and other side orders are vegetarian, and I ended up with a bowl of uneaten egg drop soup that I learned was made from chicken broth. (An aside, do eggs boiled in chicken broth seem...sort of terrible and ironic to anyone else? Ick.) And finally, this is the kind of place where the server will ask you, "Still working on that?" Are you still shoveling away? Still laboring to consume as many calories as possible in one sitting? It's a big bright noisy chain with bright colors, kids running around, flatscreen tv on the wall. I just don't understand why people flock there with so many other great, non-icky options nearby.

If you've never tried the mongolian grill experience, this is a good place to start! The food offerings are not extremely varied, but provide enough options for me. I will return to this location again and again. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is great and well prepared by the grill cooks. Thanks for another outstanding meal!

Yum Yum Yum! I've pretty much always had wonderful experiences here. The food is FANTASTIC! And I love that we get a complimentary soup or salad with our meal :) I always tip 25%, as I work in the restaurant business. We've had a few waiters like this who didn't seem to pay enough attention to us, and I was quite disappointed with this. One waitress in particular I remember about a year ago had dirty blonde hair and a circular nose ring. She only checked up on us twice in the hour and a half we were at the table- quite disappointing- and I'm sure she was also disappointed with the measly 10% tip she received. HOWEVER. We've also had a waiter (male- dark hair- kinda tall- overheard him talking and he has a girlfriend.....not sure if that narrows it down), but he checked up on my boyfriend and I MULTIPLE times. He always refilled our waters on que, and he was extremely friendly. Of course we tipped 25%, but of course he deserved it. Next time we attend Hu Hot, we will ask for him, as he understands customer service! The manager is also very nice. My boyfriend and I were at dinner one night. We pointed out to one another how nice it was that the manager was walking around, making sure everything was being taken care of. After we left our meal, we made it down by Perkin's, where the manager had ran all the way after us to give us something we had left behind. He was very nice and considerate. So, other than some of the waitresses not providing enough customer service, this place is FANTASTIC. I definitely recommend more than any other restaurant in town!

Went to Ft Collins to shop and hang around, sure glad my daughter picked this place for lunch. Loved it. Sauces are amazing. "You mean I can go up again?" This was my reaction when I learned you can go up more than once. I joined them a bit late and missed the waiter explaining how it worked.

This is a tired faux asian food concept found all over the US of A. But obviously, since they seem to do okay, we all sometimes lack inspiration or agreement on what to have for a meal. So lets go to a place where you pile a bunch of shit on a plate, slop on some sauces, and let some cook stir-fry it up - wa-lah! A nutritious meal? maybe, maybe not. A culinary delight? very unlikely. But $8 for all you can eat lunch? Great place to stuff your stomach! (...that's not a good thing) Service spotty, but venue is modern, clean, and pleasant, and ingredients appear to be of decent quality, if you resign yourself to join the masses and kiddos...

We stopped in here on our way down from camping...on the lookout for something plentiful and easy and I remembered going to HuHot once before. Boyfriend had never been to a Mongolian barbecue, make your own noodle bowl sort of place so we picked it. Lunch is less than dinner by a few bucks but doesn't include soup or salad so I ordered their Asian salad ala carte (I'm a sucker for the crumbled ramen noodles on top and the sweet dressing). Concept is easy: get two bowls, fill one with noodles and the other with toppings. The veggies are pretty basic: I chose mushrooms, broccoli, onions, bamboo, bean sprouts...and tofu. Maybe a few others too. Then you load it up with sauce (most of it escapes during the cooking process so get extra). The hotter sauces actually provide some good heat, which is nice, and they have chile paste and sriracha at the end to add more. Then the guys fry it up. This part makes me feel like I'm at Benihanas, an equally cheesy concept. They bang their spatulas and throw them around and whatnot. It's cute, but definitely takes any sort of technique out...all of the ingredients go on at once and get fried at once. As a result, some of the stuff doesn't get the right amount of burnt on crisp. The end result is a pretty okay pile of noodles that definitely hit the spot. I think I added a bit too much gingery sauce and it tasted a little bit too....frozen dinnery. That was my fault. They also don't have eggs which is downright silly. My favorite part of fried up noodles is a scrambled up egg. Also, I'm not sure if they use oil....none that I could discern in the cooking process or the taste. Way to be heart healthy, but I like fried noodles to be a bit bad-for-me tasting. HuHot serves its build-your-own noodle bowl purpose, but not much more than that.

PILLAGE YOUR MOTHAEFFIN VILLAGE!!!!!!!! My favorite place to eat in Fort Collins, hands down. Delicious food. Great atmosphere and a fun experience over all. The sauces are what makes this place tick. Never had a bad bowl!! I would try 3 ladles of teriyaki, 2 ladles of sweet and sour, 2 ladles of barbeque and 1 ladle of the super super hot Kung Pao Yow!! Bam.

Good Eats!! - One of those fun places and if you are starving it's an "all you can eat"!! Everything was fresh and you can only blame yourself if you do not like it! I would suggest going on a weeknight or early on a weekend because it's packed!!

My husband and I travel quite a bit, and we love Mongolian grills. I copied down the suggested mix of sauces at my favorite one, and I can usually come pretty close to the same mix at any other one. To my surprise, I discovered that HuHot as a chain has milder sauces than anyone else and some are unique to them. I like tasty spicy, not so much hot spicy. It took a few visits and experimenting to figure out what worked. The mix I use at most Mongolian grills is 2 ladles Mongolian sauce, 1 ladle BBQ, 1 teriyaki, 1 sweet & sour, 1/2 ginger, 1/2 garlic, 1 sesame oil. For HuHot, in place of the Mongolian sauce, I use 1 ladle of Five Village (yes, the one listed as 5 and hot) and a ladle of sherry. The result is tasty spicy and not too hot. We moved here last year, and I was happy to see a HuHot here. I like the relaxed feel of the place and the service. We will be regulars there.

The concept of this eatery is sound - all you can eat, stir fry style food. Menu choices abound in addition to a bit of interactive eating. However, there are times when a great concept is not executed properly. This is one of those times. We arrived fairly late (after 8p) and were told there was going to be a 45 minute wait. Looking around the dining room I saw multiple open tables and seats at the bar. After about 15-20 minutes we were told we could eat, but we would need to sit at the bar. This was my first experience here (whereas my girlfriend had been multiple times). You collect a bowl or two and then proceed around some buffet areas filling the bowls with items you would like in your stir fry. You start at the protein buffet (with salted meats including chicken, beef, pork, various types of seafood) and then proceed to the veggies. I was disappointed in veggie buffet as it didn't include stir fry staples like green onions or bean sprouts, although it did have quite a few options. I am an admitted sauce addict, trying every kind of sauce or dressing i can think of. I was very excited at trying out the 24+ different sauces available. They have varying degrees of spiciness and sweetness, and combination is encouraged. Here's where the problems started. My first bowl was going to a Thai peanut concoction. I ladled on the suggested 5 helpings of the sauce. After the food had been cooked, I tasted none of the flavorful sauce I added. The grill was so hot it burned off all of the needed flavor. In addition, they didnt leave the veggies on the grill long enough to fully cook. Both my gf and I were served raw flavorless veggies. I will admit my second bowl of sweet and sour pork (with 10 ladles of sauce) tasted much better. The buffet areas were messy, there was not a lot of direction to newbies on the process of placing your bowls to get them cooked, and the undercooked food all led to the score. The server/bartender was VERY friendly and brought the score up to a 2. I don't know if I would go back considering the other much better dining options in the area.

Love this place order from the menu or go to the kitchen and mix a plate of your own. Load up a bowl with whatever veggies and/or meats you would prefer add sauces for flavor next step take your mixture to get cooked by the Huhot chefs. I have visited Huhot at least half a dozen times and every experience has been a great one.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?! HuHot is overpriced, overrated, and is not worth the time... If I want to pay $10 for a crappy meal, I'll go hit up King Soopers, buy some random ingredients, go home and cook with a blindfold on. And then... it will still be better than this festering crap hole of a "restaurant". *deep breathing*

I was brought here by a friend whom I was visiting in Ft. Collins. I could see how it would be easy to make something really really bad. But we managed to keep things tasty. They have a wide selection of food to try. I was impressed by the option to add buffalo. How often do you see buffalo in a place like this? The soups that came with the dinner were really bad and were not eaten past one spoonful. It is a good place to fill up for sure. The cooks were also impressively nice especially when they are working and sweating so much.

Perhaps I am spoiled by Mongolian BBQ done well, but this place was definitely meh. I was particularly disappointed because the concept of Mongolian BBQ seems easy to do well if you bother to put in the effort, but on the night I went, very little effort was expended to do anything. First off, the place just feels dirty and run down. Tables are kind of haphazardly placed, almost like an afterthought. You enter directly into a room where everyone is eating, so you definitely feel weird standing there waiting to be seated. The area where you choose your items is laid out poorly so that even though it was not crowded when I went, I waited a long time to get all my veggies and sauces, and we were bumping into each other trying to form a line in the U-shaped area. Second thing, the cooking method is not traditional. Typically in a Mongolian BBQ, there's no hole in the middle of the grill. Once the food is placed on, the cooks toss it around with long sticks, moving the food around the grill from one cook to the next so the food is always moving. Because it's always moving, it gets tossed evenly in the sauce, everything gets cooked evenly, and nothing gets burned into a crispy sticky mess on the grill (hence no need for the scrape-hole). At HuHot, they slapped my food on the grill with one single toss, let most of the sauce pool into a sticky mess nowhere near the food, then scraped it onto a plate with a spatula leaving me with a half-crispy half-uncooked mess. Perhaps I went on an off night, but there were no spatula theatrics as others have described, not that that would have improved the meal at all. All-in-all, I ended up with an edible somewhat healthy meal that was fast and cheap, and our server was nice so I opted for 2 stars instead of 1. You may say that eating at a chain restaurant you can't really expect too much, but as I said in the beginning, it really wouldn't be THAT hard to do this well. If you're looking for an interactive dining experience, Benihana does it much better.

Located right in the heart of Old Town, this place is a great place to get your fix if you just want to stuff yourself silly! It's all you can eat, hibachi style. The selection of meats and veggies is always good, and the multitude of sauces allows you to flavor up your dish just about any way you want. Its only downside, I think, is that when it gets crowded, it just gets to be a pain. The grill can only accommodate about 6 dishes at a time, so on a crowded night, you can easily find yourself standing in line for 15-20 minutes just to get your food cooked. However, if you find the food unpleasant, it's just because you made it wrong :)

Have fun with making the fun combinations of food, lots of choices and sauces! All staff is very nice. I am not too wild about the hot and sour soup though it tastes just a bit odd...I can't put my finger on it.

Overpriced, you have to get your own food (semi-buffet style), the wait staff only bring you drinks (so you still have to tip). Go eat at the dorms at CSU, it's the exact same thing.

I was so anxious to try Huhot, not only because the positive reviews, but the place is always packed, and everyone raves about it. Unfortunately for me it seemed like unjust hype. First of all the front of house staff were too busy texting and talking amongst themselves we actually had to ask if we just seat ourselves or if we need to wait to be seated, which we were snidely informed we needed to be seated. We were seated promptly and then here's where the fun begins, or ends if you can sense sarcasm. I will admit all the veggies look very fresh, the sauces smell awesome, and the meat looked ok. Now my problem is this, the floor in front of the sauce buffet was so covered in sauce drippings people were slipping, or getting stuck to the floor because the floor wasn't properly maintained. The buffet itself was also in the same condition, completely covered in gelatinous sauce that had been spilled, not addressed, then dried on to the counters. It looked so unappetizing I almost passed completely. Then my final complaint is the cook top of the grill was either A) too hot, or B) not oiled enough. When you finally got your noodles the extreme heat caused the noodles to be charred in some spots, while the integrity of the noodle was completely destroyed leaving you with a bowl of blackened noodle mush. I think if they had people cleaning the food areas, more attentive wait staff, and people who knew what they were doing on the grill, it would be much better. The food was ok, but I know I won't be running back anytime soon.

We actually got there a few minutes late and they let us in since we were from out of state! Thank you Huhot! There were plenty of selections in every category. I especially loved the huge chunks of crab that were available- you do not find that at a lot of mongolian food places here! Everything was fresh and was well laid out. The sauces were great because I can not eat a lot of spicy food, and there were enough choices for someone like me. Everyone was very nice and courteous. I can not wait to go back there again.

I take my wife and kids here one sunday every month and have lunch. I've always been able to eat at least 8 plates of food. My youngest son thinks it's the neatest thing in the world. The food is good. Of course it's hard to mess up meat, raw veggie and a water/oil based sauce.

The idea for this place is great! It fails to live up to the greatness though. The staff is friendly, but it's a Mongolian grill so you barely see your waitress. They provide plenty of options for meat, noodles, vegetables, and sauces. You're are feeling good about your bowl when you're putting it together, but then you have to wait for it to be cooked which is quite awhile. You go back to your table after a long process to put your meal together. The worst part is when you go to eat you find that their meat is not very good. It is low quality meat and it ruins the meal. All together this place is not worth going to especially for the price.

Had lunch here Sunday and was pleasantly surprised. The food was good, but being a novice in the kitchen I would have preferred some sauce/meat combos that were known to be good. I have no faith in myself to put meat and sauce combos together. I had a half hour for lunch and would have liked a TV or 2 in there to watch football, but all in all pretty good. James

During a recent business trip to Fort Collins, we were looking for a place to eat dinner. We were driving through downtown Fort Collins and I noticed the word "Mongolian" and started salivating. I've not not had Mongolian Barbecue since I was 12 years old! I lobbied the rest of our group to go there and they all agreed. For those of you that have never sampled Mongolian Barbecue - the concept is this: imagine an area much like a giant salad bar - you choose from a variety of razor thin sliced meats: chicken, beef, pork, and veal; a wide variety of raw vegetables: baby corn, bean sprouts, onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, broccoli, asparagus, scallions, cauliflower, and a whole lot more; then sauces galore: oils, soy sauces, spicy sauces, salty sauces, hot sauces, wines, vinegars, you name it. You drown your meat and vegetable mixture with lots of sauces. After assembling a massive pile of raw meats and veggies, with a very liberal dosing of any and all of the aforementioned sauces and oils, the entire concoction is tossed onto a massive metal flat grill and cooked at high heat very quickly. You stand in line and hand your bowls of food to the guys at the grill and then wait and watch them cook your food. At this place - they were very busy - two guys were doing all of the cooking - they could have very easily used two more guys - there was a long line to get food cooked - and each guy was cooking about six different meals at a time. After each round of meals is cooked, they have to scrape the grill. It's a very hot job, both of these guys looked to be young college guys - probably students at nearby Colorado State University (CSU) and both were drenched in sweat from having to hover over this very hot grill. We finally got our food - I sat down at our table, I had also ordered their version of Hot and Sour Soup - and a local Pale Ale. The soup was a different consistency than the Americanized Chinese version of Hot and Sour Soup - it had a thick, cloudy consistency - but it was very good, the Pale Ale was very hoppy and fruity - not something I usually go for - but this was very good, I cannot recall the name of the beer I sampled - I had never heard of it before. My Mongolian Barbecue mixture? Outstanding!!! Wow! Yumm! Yumm! Yumm! Everyone in our group (4 of us total) agreed the food was very good. I need to find the Mongolian Barbecue joints in the Washington, DC area and try them out...

Let me be honest, I love the Mongolian-style barbecue. Constructing your own dish, having the cooks fire it up right there in front of you, it's wonderful. And it seems like no matter what combination you get it's always good. I'd been meaning to go there for some time ever since I realized what kind of restaurant it was. I'd had another restaurant in Kansas City that had introduced me to the concept, so I had high hopes. This did not disappoint. It's pricey, as one might expect, but worth it. The only concern I had was the waitress we had seemed pretty distracted and disinterested. I would imagine that tips here might not be so good given the fact that customers are responsible for their meals and the cooks are at the forefront of customers' minds. Still, highly recommended for a night out!

I think one of the main reasons why Huhot is so popular is because of how much food you get. Honestly, I was not impressed at all with the quality of ingredients given to you at the raw buffet line. All of the meat was frozen (you could see the freezer burn!) and the veggies thawed. I've been here twice (both times for a work dinner) and have been disappointed each time. The first time I suspected I chose the wrong combo of sauces for my dish (there are about thirty different types ranging from mild to extremely spicy), and so tried an entirely different thing, however found it still to be extremely sub par. The three dishes I've eaten all had the same weird mustard taste to it. I don't know if that's just the taste of the grill, but this taste seemed to overpower all of the other flavors, unfortunately. Don't get me wrong, this place is a lot of fun with their flat top grill and hot "chefs" doing tricks with their spatulas, but it still doesn't take away from the fact that the food just doesn't wow. I feel like I could make something like this better at home for a much better price.

The buffet -an all you can eat smorgasbord that is sure to send you into purgatory for giving into one of the Cardinal Sins; Gluttony. Having lived in Vegas for years, I've been to some of the world's best buffets. Once or twice (or more...), I've stuffed myself to the brim, full of random combinations of large quantities of food. Since leaving Vegas, the buffet has lost it's appeal. I've never really sought out buffets again even though we have a few around in town. Fort Collins is severely lacking in the buffet department, although we do have HuHot. The food there is alright. It's decent enough for a casual lunch out with friends, but I'd stick to that. Lunch is about $8.00, whereas dinner is about $13. The difference between the two? Dinner includes a very small side salad or cup of soup. It's not worth it. The salad is a cup of lettuce, some green onion, tomatoes, mandarin oranges, dry ramen noodles and some dressing. This place tends to be busy and you can wait up to 20 minuets in line at the grill. Take this time to enjoy the show, the massive flames that flare up from the grill and take a look at what others around you have created. It's pretty interesting!

HuHot is fantastic at what it is. What exactly is it? A delicious interactive dining experience. It is not a traditional restaurant and should not be graded as one. There should be no glaring review based on the wait staff, as they only are there to refill your drinks and maybe bring you rice. As for the negative reviews about the staff working the grill, they do an awesome, speedy job while manning a massive fire filled grill. They move people through quickly, cook orders well and do their best to keep meals away from each other. The dishes at HuHot are entirely made by the patron. If you don't like how your meal turned out, don't eat it! Get up and make another. If you do not like what you are eating, you only have yourself to blame. The restaurant is always packed for a reason. It is a good deal for a fun and tasty meal. The staff does a wonderful job of accommodating everyone and while it may be a little cheesy, HuHot is a great dining experience.

So disappointing. I have been to HuHot twice and both experiences have been less than stellar. This place is just weird and always rubs me the wrong way. At first glance, HuHot is set up like a sit-down restaurant: a hostess seats you and you are attended by a wait staff. However, your food is not served. You must assemble your own meal buffet-style, after which it is grilled by "chefs" (unshaven, vulgar-mouthed men). My problem is not with the buffet, but rather that the whole concept of the restaurant simply doesn't work well. The prices are that of a sit-down meal, but you have to serve yourself- and it gets annoying having to get up and walk clear across the restaurant every time you want seconds. The atmosphere is just really strange. I have never felt that the quality of the food justified the $13 price tag. Basically, when my boyfriend and I went, he paid $40 for two plates of noodles, two tiny bowls of bad soup, and two drinks. Honestly, it was comparable to dorm food. Both times I ate here, we were shoved in the far back, and the tables were set up in such a way that everyone was in everyone else's face. And is it a coincidence that both times I dined here there were ridiculously loud, drunk people? Or maybe it is just the kind of clientele that the establishment attracts. My advice? Go and form your own opinion. It most certainly does not float my boat.

At one point in time I would have given HuHot 5 stars, but every time I dine there the experience is worse and worse. My fiance described it as "the McDonald's of concept restaurants" and I agree. After ordered drinks, the waitress said it would be a few on the coffee because she "doesn't know how long its been sitting out". When the coffee did come, it tasted burnt and like it had been sitting out for quite some time. Oh well, it's not a coffee shop. The cooks on the grill were dull. I was looking forward to seeing them do all their little spatula tricks to make waiting in line a little more fun. Nope, nothing. It was very boring. The waitstaff is supposed to pick up your dirty dishes when you go up for another round of food, this didn't happen. We ended up with a stack of dirty dishes that were not even touched until we were leaving. To top it off, when the waitress finally brought me a refill she was carrying the cup by the top rim. Gross! I don't know when the last time she washed her hands. How am I supposed to drink out of a cup where her grimy fingers were? Eww. I don't even want to talk about the backed up toilet in the bathroom. Instead of shutting that stall door, they just put up a wet floor sign. hmm This may have just been a one time experience. But like I said before, every time I go there the experience/service keeps going down hill. The one thing I can count on is the food. I can make it my way. If I don't like it, well then try, try again. If you do go there, the food is good and reliable. But not the service. I am disappointed in you HuHot. I will not be coming back for a long time.

Hu Hot is about par for the course for Mongolian barbecue. It's pretty difficult for places like this to really differentiate themselves... the formula from place to place is pretty much the same. That said, I appreciate having a place like this in old town Fort Collins, which seems to be a bit overloaded on sandwich places for lunch, and it's nice to go to a place where you can load up on meat and vegetables. The quality of the food itself is average. I find it interesting that, because it's me that puts the ingredients together in a bowl before handing it to the person who grills it up, I share part of the blame if I don't like the dish! I would like to see them have more sauces available that could be put on top of the dish when completed. It seems that no matter what kind of sauces you put into the bowl before tended to the grill person, 80% of the taste tends to boil off as part of the preparation.

HuHot is one of the best deals in town. Located right in the smack of old town, this place attracts everything from the broke freshman to the young HP professional to the family farmer. So yes, it's a chain but in Fort Collins, you've got extremely limited selection, so quit being so picky, They've got all different types of meats, veggies and I wanna say something like 20+ different sauces to load up your bowl with giving you an awesome value and selection at such a fair price.

  • Randy L.

Yes, I went back, again, and again. In the 6 weeks we were in Ft. Collins, I think I ate there 5 times, and I'd go back! Great selection, good quality food, delicious. Best to go early, as it can get crowded on weekends. Lunch is great. Pretty much the same selection at a lower price, but you don't get the salad or soup that is included with dinner. There's a guy on the grill at lunch that is an artist with his spatula twirling. The man works at his art, and produces really good food, too. I suggested a cooking implement contest online.

A nice selection of ingredients to do the Mongolian BBQ thing at Huhot. The menu is pretty funny in describing the steps of eating there and the staff was friendly and attentive. The only drawback was that the tables in the bar area make it tough to get to the bar if they are occupied. Overall, Nice job!

I love Hu Hot! It's an all you can eat restaurant that cooks your food right in front of you. Lots of meats, lots of veggies, and some seafood. And then you can create your own mixture of sauces. Or you can follow some "recipes" they have posted in line. When it's busy, it sucks waiting in line so long for food....but it is well worth it. Not a bad price for what you get, I usually have to allow myself some extra time after a meal here to "walk it off" a bit. Ha ha. The cooks also put on a bit of a show twirling their spatulas around the grill. Great place for groups to meet, very nice location in Old Town FTC. To get the full experience, try going on an "off" time so you can casually go through the line 4-5 times, making SMALL bowls to try different sauces. Every time as I find my "favorite" sauce combination, I seem to then find something even better.

  • Gillian R.

The service was great from both the waiter and the cooks. They were all very friendly and helpful. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because I just don't think Mongolian Grill is for me. Maybe it was the sauces I put on? Idk exactly what it was...it was either my fault or their food, but I'm going to go ahead and say it was the combination of what I had on my plate. I would try it again and it is definitely a very cool and fun experience so I would recommend it to anyone.

This isn't all that traditional but it is very good. Lots of choices and the options are very good. Front house staff is pretty good, never had a problem with any of the 10 times I went! Cooks are all pretty good. Most cook your food right and treat you well. They don't have all the ingredients that I want sometimes though. The wait can be cumbersome for a weekend dinner, too. I still love the food though! Most of the 1 or 2 star reviews are the small percentage that you have the wrong cook or something just goes bad. Remember, unless your going to a 4 or 5 star place there is always going to be that cook who made a mistake or that uninspired plate. Remember YOU CAN TURN IT BACK! The best part is if they cook it poorly, you watched them do it. Nobody's fault except the cooks. But it can be yours a bit too if you accept it. If they didn't cook it enough or cook it right say something to the cook or tell the server and they will get you another bowl. The server should have no questions asked! A must try any way you look at it!

If you don't like it, it's all your fault. You pick the ingredients and sauces and they cook it for you while creating a world of fire and acrobatic spatulas. The "chefs" were the whitest Mongolians I've ever seen. It's probably a good thing since real Mongolians EAT PEOPLE, right? I ate like a rhino pig; pretty bomb...

My wife and I have been to a few of these style places, and this one seems to have the most energy! The place is modern, and fun. The food is great, and the prices are pretty good. I cant wait to take my kids with us next time and try the roasted marshmallows!

you cant go wrong with mongolian food. especially when you get to choose all the ingredients. i absolutely love this place. the waitstaff and the bartender are sometimes slow whether its busy or not, but they are extra nice and friendly so it never bothers me or my friends. this is a great place to go especially if you are low on money. $8 lunch for all you can eat. can you really beat that?

The food made me have the shits! I dont think I have a sensitive stomach but jesus christ! I dunno if its because it was cooked with every other asshole's food in Fort Collins, since everyone just slops their food down on the circle flat top stove. The service ins't much better than the food either. The worst part is the price. Its way overpriced for a college town eatery, but it sounds like the way Fort Collins is becoming...trying to be the next NYC I guess. Pass!

this place is really cool. Picture a salad bar except there are a bunch of raw meats in front of you and then the next station is rice, veggies and fixings , then an entire case full of sauces and spices. You combine it all together using their recipes or your own fingers crossed and then they cook it for you on this gigantic circular grill. Very cool. Not sure if this is how the mongolians actually did it, but i'll take it.

Do you have a family who can never agree on where to eat because everyone likes something different? THIS is your place! It's the only place that gets cheers of "yeah!" from my 2 kids when I say it's where we are going to eat. The food is fresh and you can fix it up just the way you like it. The cooks are entertaining during non-rush hour and get the job done as quickly as they can during the rush. Lunch is a better deal than dinner but with the selection and options, dinner is still a great choice. It's wonderful for kids who can pick and choose what they want. Gives them a little power with their meal which makes for happier kids at the table. Dinner time on a Friday night or weekend is a mad house so my tip would be to make it a late lunch and save some time waiting (and some cash since lunch is cheaper).

I absolutely love this place!! The food is wonderful, mostly because I'm a picky eater and I love having the power to mix and match, and if i make something I'm not fond of, I can always get another plate and try something else...recently they added mandarin oranges to the options and i must say you have to at least try it!! As far as drinks go, I rarely go out of the fountain drink area but they do have a wide selection of mixed drinks, wine and sake so there's a little something for everyone. The best advice I can give is skip the appetizers, unless you're in a big group waiting for people because the desserts are amazing and worth saving room for. I highly recommend the cheesecake rangoons...with caramel and chocolate sauce though you can pick two sauces from a seemingly unlimited array of choices! I've never had bad service here, though admittedly a little slow especially if i'm dying of thirst and my glass is empty :( but i imagine it's because they don't want to crowd your dining style, which is fair enough... for those of you in denver and boulder...try BD's mongolian bbq....almost as good but not quite ;)

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
